Snack Snack Snacking

I’ve always been into tidbits. It’s a real bad habit of mine… I love to eat junk foods even though I know it’s bad for my health and it makes my tummy wobbles…

Recently I found new snacks at Central Shopping Mall and I wanna go back to restock!

If you have a sweet tooth like me then here are 2 recommendations.

1. Marcial Kobe - I love their mini donuts. The sugared one is my fav but they have other flavours such as maple syrup or plain ones too. Yummy pop in your mouth treats! Their mini fish with varied fillings is not bad too! I love the custard one but you must eat these while they are hot or they will turn a little soggy. The store is in Central basement.

2. Just behind the mini donuts store is Nippon-ya! The store itself is really pretty with all the wrapped boxes of goodies. Here they sell you typical Japanese desert snacks. The one I bought is strawberry with chocolate fillings and they are so good I can’t stop popping them in my mouth!

Happy Snacking!
I’m going back today to get restocked!

All About Hair

There’s been a lack of updates recently as I’m preparing for my 3 weeks trip to the states in April. I’ll be leaving in less than a weeks time and I have a gazillion loose ends to tie up here.

However I love my friends and readers very much and I’ve taken time to do up this hair post with much persuasion. My new hairdo has settled down quite a bit from the initial super curly first couple of days. Friends who have met up with me in the last 2 weeks have commented that the perm was very well done and wanted to know how what and where it was done. Whereas some of my blog readers have emailed me regarding close up pictures of my hair when let down.

So here are both the pictures and the information.

I cut and permed my hair at Maggiee and Friends International which is located at the end of Club St. It is run by 2 Japanese hair stylist. The one that did my hair is Mastsuda as he is supposedly better for perms where as the other stylist, Saito is better for straight hair. If you are a first timer… you will get 20% off… you may put Karen Ashely if asked who referred.

My cut and digital perm cost me about $180 after the discount. I did not color or do any treatment on my hair. The service I had there was relatively satisfying but be prepared to understand broken English with a tinge of Japanese accent while speaking to the stylist.

To style on a daily basis I would blow dry with a hairdryer after bathing if I have time followed by a spritz of hair spray which results in nicer curls. Or if I’m in a rush I would twirl my damp hair into 2 twisted rows after applying my Loreal Lumi oil and redken styling cream. Leave to natural dry and run my fingers through to loosen the curls when it’s done. The picture below shows my hair damp and twisted.

Alternatively you could always tie up you hair or put on a hair band! =)

Madness At Giant

I took this picture at the new Giant Hypermarket at Tampines. I’m sad to say I was really disgusted by the behavior of the shoppers there. It was total chaos and peeps were just eating fruits off the racks without paying or letting their kids treat the place as a playground. Many of the goods were vandalized and most of all there was a lack of shame or conscience from the offenders… If you even looked at them… they’ll stare at you with the ” what are you staring at” or ” mind your own business” look!

Note the litter everywhere! Looks more like a wet market than a indoor air-conditioned hypermart.

Singapore Botanic Gardens

Went for a visit to the Singapore Botanic Gardens with Louis since I had to drop by the American Embassy to pick something up the other day. Took the opportunity to try out the new Sony HD DVD video camera out as well!

Louis had fun running around the grass! He loves his grass so much! We went by the swan lake and Louis had sort of a “show down” with the male swan! The swan ruffled his feathers and jabbed his long neck around. Louis backed down and lost. Upon seeing Louis retreat and submission the swan wagged his tail! And I really do mean wag his feathered tip tail victoriously! I never knew swans could do that! It was fun to watch! I caught it on the video but haven’t got down to uploading it… Will do so when I’m free.

Oh yes! One more picture. I saw a beautiful cherry blossom tree near the swiss garden. It was so pretty and pink … my camera couldn’t capture it well but I loved it!

My Shorter Permed Hair

Posted on March 16th, 2007 by Karen Ashley Ng.

As I mentioned in earlier posts… I cropped 6 inches of my original hair. I was a little hesitant to chop off my below waist length hair but it was just too long and unmanageable. The ends were also getting dry due to the lack of nutrients. But the biggest push for me was the hot weather. Super long hair looks very pretty and dolly when curled but is really hard to pin up for outdoor activities. And I do spend a large amount of my time with my dog which means going to the parks and beaches and running around!

When the cut was through… my hair length was somewhere near my boobs. It was neat and sweet but a little too bland so I requested for a perm. I was warned that the perm will look nowhere as nice as my perm in Japan as my hair was too short to achieve beautiful large bouncy curls. But I took the risk.

The first couple of days I looked pretty auntish cause the curls were really tight!

But now after a week…. the curls are looking more natural without losing it’s shape. I’ve not tied up my hair for ages with my old hairstyle that I’m totally loving this one and I tie my hair up most of the days!!! My head feels a ton lighter! Ask me if I will regrow my hair super long again? I probably would (I’m vain!) but for now… Bun up my hair please! I’m gonna arrange for an all- adventure… mountain trekking… white water rafting and horse riding trip next month!
