Doggies Run From Yellow Car?

Emmie is now 3 mths plus and a lot bigger than when I first got her. And like all mommies I enjoy dressing the 2 dogs alike despite the size difference. Their latest siblings outfit is this orange raincoat.

They play and they fight just like any sibling but it’s cute to see them huddle together for protection. I found this super cheap remote control car and started chasing them around the house with it. While Louis didn’t like the car getting near him he was still rather nonchalant unlike Emmie who was really scared.

You don’t see her but Emmie is hidding behind the curtain.

Hiding at the corner!

Cornered!!

The cute part was when I reversed the car Louis joined in and it and they were united against the common yellow enemy.

Reversed the car one more time and Emmie broke free, running to mummy for help! Leaving Louis there to defend for himself.

Friday the 13th

I don’t have triskaidekaphobia (fear of 13) or paraskavedekatriaphobia (fear of Friday the 13th). Seriously who comes out with such words! Personally,I believe both good and bad things happen every single day. But its undeniable that a lot of people are superstitious about 13. Did you know that Napoleon, Herbert Hoover, Mark Twain and Franklin Roosevelt all had triskaidekaphobia?

In fact Belgian carrier, Brussels Airlines, has been forced to change its logo following complaints from superstitious passenger. The 13 dots making up the stylised ‘b’ brought a flood of complaints about the “unlucky” design. It has now altered the design to incorporate an additional dot. The reactions of the passengers were so bad that some actually canceled their flight, forfeiting their deposits. They rather take another “luckier” airline.

The most famous unlucky incident of the number 13 is the Apollo 13 mission, launched on April 11, 1970 (the sum of 4, 11 and 70 equals 85 - which when added together comes to 13), from Pad 39 (three times 13) at 13:13 local time, and struck by an explosion on April 13.

If you are still not convinced, when I was in the states I came across a brochure that was advertising cure for this illness and it was from the Fear of 13 Clinic. I wonder if they rake in profits? I think for South East Asia we would most likely need a Fear of 4 Clinic instead.

Sun Filled Weekends

Last weekend I took Louis and Emmie to Sentosa. Met up Alan… SJ ( RichGrad )… Simon and his two boys. Louis loved playing with the goldie and the 2 spaniels. It was Emmie’s first trip to Sentosa and she was a little more hesitant. Soon she found herself digging into the sand with her paws and nose. The kids definitely loved her.

I’ve been taking less and less pictures outdoors these days when I have the 2 dogs around. I guess cause my attention’s on them and it never occurs to me to snap pics till its too late. I did do a little video of them but it won’t be up for quite awhile more.

Then the previous week I had some relatives come over from out of town. They asked me what was my weekend plan and I told them I was heading to Pulau Ubin for a bit of a cycle. To my surprise they were game to join! It proves that it doesn’t matter how old you are as long as you are young at heart!

Met some young people on the island that asked me where I was from. I don’t look Singaporean apparently.

Saw some iguanas… stick insects… horn bills… spiders…

We even stopped at the local malay village for yummy and cheap kumpung durians. This family has been living on the island for 50 years.

It was a very nice day out and I would love to take my mum the next trip so she can have some durians and seafood but I really must remember to apply insect repellent. I think I was nominated the favorite by the mosquitoes there.

One last thing. When we were at the seafood restaurant on the island. They hung these bags of water above each table… guess what it’s for?

Louis and Emmie Play Time

I’m really happy that the 2 of them get on so well despite the difference in size. Emmie’s really active for a tiny fur ball! She prances around and try to play bite Louis. Louis being a very sweet and kind big bro would lie down to play with Emmie. Giving Emmie a chance to pounce all over him. They even play catching and tug of war (which Emmie is bound to lose.)

Here’s some pictures and videos you guys been asking for!

Emmie’s got very big blue eyes when she stares direct into the camera. Louis on the other hand has got green eyes.

Emmie looks like a little evil Gremlin when she’s wet. She doesn’t mind the water so it’s a breeze bathing her. When she’s a little older I’ll bring them swimming and see if she would take after Louis as a water poochie!

Here’s Louis nicely asleep on my bed!!

If you watch the video at the bottom you’ll see that the 2 of them can get a little rough when playing but don’t worry… they don’t really bite each other. And when they get exhausted from all that playing they would sometimes cuddle up and sleep together or on each other.

And here you go… a mini video… terrible quality but bear with it as it’s taken with my lousy camera and not with a video camera. I didn’t put any music so it wouldn’t clash with the blog’s background music.

Mid Year Resolutions

Posted on July 4th, 2007 by Karen Ashley Ng.

Time waits for no man (or woman) especially when we hit our 20s. One moment your friends are giggling about that cute boy in the next school with that oh-so-adorable dimple and before you realize it… your giggling topics are now marriage…HDBs… babies and your next promotion.

And so I’m gonna make some resolutions to finish off 2007 nicely. I only have half a year unlike most of my counterparts who did their new year resolutions way before 2007 started. But better late then never right?

First things first. I NEED to organize my life and time more efficiently. I’ve only one shot at each day and sometimes I feel I waste so much time doing unimportant stuff that I miss out on the important ones. Thus No. 1 on the list is to work out a new schedule.

No. 2 would be to include some sort of a consistent exercise schedule in my new plan. I’ve got weights and a trampoline at home I’m guilty of abandoning. And though I do walk my dogs (or maybe its my dogs walking me), that barely counts since I’m bound to stop at the bubble tea store and grab snacks along the way.

No. 3 I must do housework at least an hour a day. I’m such a procrastinator so I let everything pile. When I have to do chores it becomes a half day affair and it’s so tiring! Thus, if I can break it up into an hour a day… maybe I won’t hate housework that much since it won’t be that tiring.

No. 4 I should spend some time volunteering. It is a joy to help others and would remind me of the simple things in life I can be thankful for.

No. 5 I must take care of my skin. I’m so lazy the last couple of months that I don’t do anything much beyond cleansing. Even though I have tons of beauty products at home. Now my skin is protesting through pimples and roughness. I don’t apply sunblock even though I bring my furkids out and stay in the sun all the time! That’s gonna change!

No. 6 I would like to blog more often. Friends and family are always asking me “what happened to you? No news?” Lol… plenty of news… just lazy to tell. I’m honored that all of you come in ever so often to check on my site for new updates but I also feel guilty cause there isn’t. Do subscribe to my mailing list or RSS my site so that you would be the first to know if there are any new posts. Because I love you all… updating my blog often is No.6 on my mid year resolutions.

No.7 Dancing lessons. I been wanting to learn social or ballroom dancing since I was in my teens. But something always crops up. Be it lack of time… lack of partner or too shy to go alone. I should do what I’ve been wanting to learn before my bones get too stiff.

No. 8 Yes I know! I need to finish up my driving lessons. Hopefully it’ll be soon. Someone I know is going for bike lessons so it’ll be an additional push to go to the ulu swami driving center to finish up and get my car license.

No. 9 I need to be frugal. With 2 furkids to think off and a future to plan. I have to curb my spending! Easier said than done (which explains why it’s so low on the list) but I need to start somewhere.

No.10 This one is the hardest! Re-organize my wardrobe and the guest room. Almost mission impossible but I’ll try!

Okay! Those 10 resolutions are enough to kill me till year end. Give me moral support that I may accomplish them all yah?
