Weddings Galore!

So many of my favorite people are getting or got hitched recently! I’ve been helping out at so many I’ll soon be an expert on the subject.

It’s an amazing feeling to be at the weddings of friends you love. They are filled with joy and beauty you just can’t help feel overwhelmed with blessings to be there to see them solidify their union. Yes, I guess you can tell I’m a romantic at heart.

Being a jie mei at many a friend’s wedding and helping them out to plan and co-ordinate has given me some insight so here’s sharing some tips to brides-to-be.

- The bride is always the center of attraction and absolutely gorgeous on their big day. You are the princess… just let every one else do the work for you and don’t fret! You’ve already worked enough at the planning… enjoy the moment for it passes very fast and don’t let the small hiccups get to you.

- A marriage is for a lifetime but a wedding is for a day, so while it is a defining moment… the most important thing is that you are prepared for your lifetime together. Overspending for your wedding or having to be in debt to finance a dream wedding may find you facing a nightmare once the wedding is over.

- I know a lot of brides and grooms get stuck in a position where they try to please everyone and only end up being really stress up. Try to find neutral grounds especially with parents and parents-in-law… but ultimately you should not be forced to do anything you will have a lifetime to regret .

- When choosing boutiques or gowns or photographers, take your time… ask lots of questions and do bargain!

- Try to involve each other in the decision making as much as possible… and learn to give and take.

- If you can ask someone who has had some experience with weddings.

- Lastly, enjoy and smile!!!

Here are some of the weddings I’ve been to in the last 6 weeks (since I got back from my trip) that I remembered to bring my trusty camera. Gals.. send me the photos when you get them from your photographer!

Vernice and Tommy : Vernice are such a gorgeous bride!

Charmaine and Leon: I love you both and was so happy to see you tie the knot. Leon you are a real sporting groom! Send me the pics when you get them!

Doreen and David: We will meet up soon ya? So happy to hear of your good news! Take care of yourself ya? You’re gonna have your own blessed little family soon!

Bernice and Kelvin: Hope you guys are having fun on your honeymoon! You’re one of my oldest friend and seeing you 2 finally married makes me smile. Remember to let me see those pictures and videos esp the ones we took after the dinner in your suite!!

PS: Elie, it was nice having you there to be jie mei with me! Was really busy during that period… hopefully the next time you come back or when I go aust we’ll have more time to shop and catch up!

Kailing and Jackie: I’m sorry I couldn’t attend your wedding dinner but I’ll meet you soon with Louis and Emmie! Enjoy your honeymoon!

Joanne and Jared: Had so much fun on your wedding day! I love the bridesmaid thank you gift! So sweet! I didn’t bring my camera so you definately owe me photos!

Last Look at Japan

As much as I love Japan I’m longing to write about other interesting stuffs! Hee… but I will finish the trip up with the last batch of photos to share.

I still can’t help but lust after the food! I spend a large portion of my travels seeking out the best food in the locals joints.

I happened to be jostled into a festival! Everyone was out on the streets celebrating the journey to the temple. Incredible atmosphere!

This is my last shot as I head to the airport.

Back to Land of The Rising Sun

As some of you may know, these days 24 hours feels like 4hours. Time is just flying by! I’m not sure if it’s good that I’m making full use of every single second of my youth or if it’s bad that I’m depleting so fast I’ll look back and think what the hell happened… how did I get so wrinkly and wise so fast! I feel that I’m at that mid-way point…. too old to feel like I can get away with anything and too young to stop my adventures.

Anyways a couple of my friends requested I post up more Japan picture soon cause they are heading there in 2 mths time! Remember to buy me some yummies! I’m kinda bummed I couldn’t join their trip cause I’ll have to save my leave for a Cambodia Expedition I’m joining in July. I’ll be teaching English and Maths at the local village… while we try build a school for them.

Japan such a beautiful country I wish I could go back there soon. The next time however, I wanna make it a backpacking trip following the old trading routes of the Edo Period starting from Kyoto. I love visiting old castles and temples as much as I love their natural scenery and hot springs!

I edited one of the photos of Asakusa Temple to Sepia. And I’m amazed that nothing much has changed in centuries other than the outfits of the people. I can totally imagine being at that same spot 100 years ago having that same moment of cultural awe. Just that the crowd would be dressed in Kimonos and other traditional outfits.

I’ve been to Japan several times and the best way to see it is still by foot. Let your feet take you off the beaten track. The country is relatively safe and that makes it easier to simply explore and talk to the locals.

Some of the best food I have had was found in little street side store with their own regular patrons. The owners treat me as if I was an old family friend coming around for a home cooked dinner.

One of the perks of visiting a country or a city that you have visited previously is that you no longer feel obliged to go to all the recommended places of interests that they recommend to tourists. You can just re-visit the places that held your person interest and then spend the rest of the holiday wandering to local haunts and experiencing the culture in the eyes of the everyday man.

Finding places which beauty has been taken for granted by the people that lives in that areas but gain a fresh new take in my eyes… one of a foreigner not accustom to such natural splendor esp in urbanite Singapore.

I even caught some early blooming Sakuras when I was there… even though it was very early spring then and the golden week doesn’t start till April. If you’ve been a regular reader at my blog… you’ve seen that I love cherry blossoms…. so it was such a pleasant surprise to catch these rare blooms when I expected not to see any since I couldn’t arrange to be in Japan during their Golden Week.

Shopping in small towns also means I get to buy stuff at cheaper prices then in the heart of Tokyo city!

There is too little time in life to dwell on the bad

I just got back from dinner and already a whole lot of happenings has occurred in my tag box as well as email. Just to address my thoughts about it once and for all.

To my dearest friends and blog readers:

Thank you for jumping to my defense without a moment’s thought. I’m blessed in life to have you all as my guardian angels. There is no way anyone can be perfect or to have everyone like them. I know that a long time ago… and I feel that there is no need to prove myself to any one. Someone once told me that you are considered lucky if you have one or two true friends in your life. I must be extremely lucky
for I have enough to last me a few lifetimes.

To jess: Thanks for trying to defend me… but i deleted your comment as I still do wish to keep some parts of my life private… and what job I’m doing or how my lifestyle is does not make me who I am… I have my own feelings and thoughts… not dictated nor should it be judged by status or money. There are always better people out there… I do not want others to compare themselves to me nor I to others.

To vector: Thanks also for defending me… but I will also delete your comments cause there is too many bad vibes around… fighting over such a small matter is not worth it. I will also not release les ip address to you as I wish no ill to any one. Forgive and forget… and life is better for everyone.

I agree with you that everyone has an issue or a problem… so do I but it is not any in which you have stated. Thank you for visiting my blog… reading my posts and visiting my shop. Although you are a complete stranger to me you have spend a fair amount of time trying to psycho-analyze my real life personality. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and you have taken up quite a bit of air time here… it would be nice of you to continue your thoughts about me or other people in your own personal blog for your own readers as I do not wish my friends to get upset on my behalf. It’s always easier to point fingers and pre-judge people then to look at ourselves or to give others the benefit of the doubt… I am personally guilty of that myself… so thank you for the lesson I learned…

My general thoughts:

It is really sad to see that many gals have locked their blogs or moved to a different address due to criticizing comments especially coming from those who only think they know you. Already I can count a handful of people whom I personally know that is afraid to go swimming or dancing in public for fear of how people might think of them. I too have a flabby tummy and am an extremely short girl. I’m average looking at best. But so what!

Beauty comes from our actions… from being able to touch others with our kindness of speech and in little ways in our everyday life. Beauty on the outside will fade but your kindness will be remembered forever. Don’t be afraid of how you look like or how society judges you… you should live the moment for it is no one’s life but your own. Girls should not succumb to surgery or diet pills just to be good enough to show your face in public and show your support to others… there is no need bring them down by planting seeds of doubt.

As for WuChaCha, I model cause it is just a hobby business… to share my passion for clothes and unique finds. I select the merchandise to sell based on my personal preference… I don’t target the perfect girl and you won’t look like a supermodel just by wearing those clothes… but if you just want to wear what real girls like me wear without breaking your bank, it is a good option.

Lastly, let us stop all these negative words and sow seeds of compassion to the next person we come across… virtually or in real life. Life is too short and the community especially here in Singapore… needs to learn to embrace each other. Words can hurt or heal… use them wisely.

Japan March 2008

This is a very overdue post!! Won’t go much into the details of where to go and what to do in tokyo cause I’ve done similar posts before… you can check the archives. But here are some pictures to share with you from my last Japan Trip! It was pretty cold but the food was good!!!

I love Japanese food and looking at these pictures really makes me drool. I ordered 3 egg tamagos cause that’s what I normally order in singapore. But those in Japan were so huge! Just look at the size compared to my face! And the rice is so little… I feel so cheated in Singapore!

I know Japanese desserts are usually too sweet for most people to handle. But generally Singaporeans fair better cause we have a pretty sweet tooth.

Other than just going to the countless of shopping centers and shops to browze… I took a off beaten road to see where the adventure would take me.

Found a natural bamboo forest! It looks just like the movie! And there was also a dead red fox in the forest…
