I love White
September 5, 2009 in Fashion, My Thots, Photography | 2 comments

I’ve always loved white dresses. I’ve so many yet never enough.
Maybe it’s because of it’s simplicity that uncluttered feeling white dresses have. People see the dress but focus on the woman.

Renzze: Jamie, There are many branches in most places. But in Tokyo I normally go to the one at Harajuku. It's on one of the left side shops at the end of the shopping street assuming you head straight in from Harajuku JR station.
Renzze: Robin Chng, I'm a travel junkie and I do like to read and write but it's mainly passion. I do hold a full time job that gives me the flexibility of working partly on the go.
Jamie: Hi renzze, I will be going to Japan come Oct. Could you let me know where is body focus located in tokyo? Thanks!
robin chng: hi KA, just out of curiousity as i always see you posting on Fb, are you a traveller and writer? mind telling me more about yourself? if not never mind. take care!!
Renzze: Laura, I'm glad you enjoy reading. My life is not made up entirely of travelling and eating though I do enjoy doing so very much. But there just isn't enough time to blog about everything so I've chosen to share my travel experiences so that it can benefit others who have [...]
Renzze: Tracy, I haven't woken up to Japanese breakfast in awhile. Oh how these pictures remind me!
Renzze: xinz, I've yet to do any of my Korea trips on my blog as they have always been for work or with people that are a little to shy to share their photos on my blog. Korea is great for sightseeing and shopping and it'll be nice to go in autumn [...]
Renzze: Kanos, No I never did the trek despite my many visits to Fuji-san. It seems I tend to miss the July/Aug window every year!
Renzze: Hi Kanos! How have you been? I will definitely give Ryokan Motonago a try the next time round. Do they need extensive pre booking?
Renzze: Janet, I'm in the research line and happened to be in a unique position where I can work on the go during some periods of my project cycle.
Renzze: Felicia, I think April is generally a good time to visit Japan when all the cherry blossoms are in bloom! In Hokkaido they bloom much much later though.
Laura: U r one lucky gal! Travelling & eating are shiok! Love ya blog....
Tracy: I love Japanese Breakfast too! What a nice way to start a day indeed =)
Renzze: Janet, yes... Japan is a gorgeous country with great culture. I have been tempted to go every year!
xinz: Hi, I was trying to find if you ever posted any trip to South Korea (Jeju island and Soeul)? Would like to see what is recommend to do there as I would like to visit Korea in the next holiday.
Kanos: I might have asked you this before (so forgive me!) - did you do the July / Aug trek up Fuji-san to catch the sunrise at the summit? Its a must do - at least once!
Kanos: Just came back from Kyoto couple of weeks back and gonna post some pics! We stayed at the Ryokan Motonago in Gion which was amazing! Give it a try...its apparently "Michelin starred" but affordable and surprisingly felt very cosy...and not commercial at all!
Kanos: Hey long time no talk! Errr...I think you meant "...when the flames fizzled and not "sizzled"!!! lol...
Janet: Hi, I chanced upon your blog and I love your travel photos and dresses! What do you work as that allows you to travel at leisure so extensively?
Felicia: Hi Renzze, when will be the best time to visit japan & hokkaido?? Winter or spring season?? All these pics makes me really tempted to visit Japan nw!:)

i am currently in search of a simple white dress! something simple and basic. i guess i should sew it myself since it’s simple and basic.. sigh. so busy
i do agree with the simplicity of white dresses, but i don’t think they are suitable for older women, like say late thirties onwards. a white dress at that age will be like waving a flag beseeching for an age of innocence and purity that has been lost and cannot be gotten back.

xiaoqi,
You should sew one since you have that skill! It would also give you a better sense of accomplishment!
While I agree it’s harder for older women to carry off white, it also depends a great deal on the cut of the dresses worn and the attitude. When in SF, I saw a lady in her 50s in a long white sleeveless maxi dress with a brown floppy hat and no accessories on the beach. She looked elegant and not at all unbecoming for a lady of her age.
