I wore this DVF inspired Bustier Dress from Eternity Loft for one of my Sunday outings and it was incredibly comfortable and easy to wear! It’s sweet and feminine with adjustable straps so most average size girls can easily fit into it. The overlapping ruched details at the bustier and the flare bottom makes it flexible for both work or play. I love how the cut is so forgiving even though I had been doing nothing but eating that whole afternoon. I’ll blog about my Sunday greedy little outing in a separate post once I sort out those photos!

If you are keen on my dress, you can check it out at Eternity loft. They have a whole range of other colors as well. The DVF Bustier Dress is only one of the many beautiful dresses that Eternity Loft has and they are constantly coming up with new collections so don’t miss out!

The skin is the largest organ of our body and therefore deserves the most attention and care. Here are some basic tips to achieving beautiful glowing skin, whether you are male or female, young or old:

Protect
The skin is constantly exposed to the detriments from environmental stresses and internal fluctuations caused by stress and hormones.

DO – Wear sunscreen every day
Make it your mantra, even if you are indoors during winter. UV rays from the sun are the number one cause of premature aging, so protect your skin 24/7 with a non-comedogenic sunscreen.

DON’T – Do not go tanning
Living in a country with a tropical climate, such as that of Singapore, exposes our skin to great amounts of sunlight and UV rays. Over-exposure from the sun causes dehydration of one’s skin and results in the formation of wrinkles. While UVB-rays cause sunburn and skin cancer, UVA rays are the culprits behind the darkening of melanin, which will eventually cause the formation of pigmentation on the skin.

Eat & Drink
Our diet determines the nutrients that our cells receive.

DO – Eat your water
Eating foods that are rich in water content, such as watermelons (90% water) and cucumbers (70% water) allows the water to be digested and absorbed the cells for plumper, healthier cells and hence, firmer skin.

DON’T – Avoid food high in sodium content
Avoid food such as processed food and instant meals, as well as excess alcohol or coffee which cause cell dehydration. When the cells are not well-hydrated, they become flaccid and limp, causing the structure of the skin to lose its firmness.

Cleansing
This is arguably the most important step in any skincare regime. Many are doing it, but are you doing it the right way?

DO – Be gentle
Although deep cleansing is necessary, be sure to use a cleanser void of harsh acids and chemicals that will cause increased sensitivity. Gently massage your skin instead of tugging and rubbing.

DON’T – Do not go to bed without properly cleansing your skin
The skin is a living breathing organ that produces sebum and sweat to protect and balance itself. As the day wears on, your skin may get congested with external impurities and excess sebum. Leaving it un-cleansed overnight is synonymous to having a ticking time bomb; you are essentially creating a warm, conducive environment for bacteria to breed on and finally developing into a pimple.

Skincare Regime at Home
There are many ways to go about doing this, but here are some tips to note.

DO – Have a proper skincare regime
Tone your skin and gently slap on moisturizing products and other skincare products recommended by your skincare professional. If you have found products that work for you, stick to them.

DON’T – Avoid changing products all the time
Do not always be tempted by NEW products in the market (we know it is hard). Your skin is a lot less resilient than you think it is. All it takes is one unsuitable product to ruin the immunity of your skin, and once provoked, it takes a much longer time to recover and return to its original state.

Professional Skincare
Make a consistent effort to visit your beautician regularly, and not do so only when problems surface.

DO – Visit a professional aesthecian regularly
Do visit a professional aesthetician once every month or two to deep-cleanse your skin as its natural renewal cycle is once every 28 days. The purpose of regular deep-cleansing is to ensure that your skin is maintained at a healthy state. When skin problems become visible to the naked eye, it may be too late.

DON’T – Avoid switching aesthecians too often
Do not expect your facial salon to do wonders within just one treatment session. We do not encourage switching aestheticians or trying out different facial salons unless the treatments offered have not proven effective.

Find one whom you trust and stick with them. Skincare is a long-term commitment and requires time and effort to heal and recover. Your skin changes as you age, and your regular aesthetician or facial therapist will probably be the best person to customize and offer the most effective treatment for your skin.

Happy Valentines Day! I know this day is sorta overhyped with expensive flowers and cut-throat dinners but it’s still a good way to stay reminded that love is still very much alive everywhere! And to the singles, don’t despair and think that valentine is not for you cause it’s a good time to give a little lovin’ to yourself and your close friends as well.

Valentine Day has always been a little untimely for me so I’m never with my love on cupid’s special day but that just means that we have to make doubly  sure that we spend quality time whenever we have time for each other all year round.

For those who would like to pamper themselves or their partners, you could head down Porcelain, The Face Spa for a little treat this February cause they are having a super special promo! And which girl doesn’t want good skin!

Other than the superb promo, you get to add on and try out their other services for a fraction of the price! (S$28 for one, S$38 for two and S$48 for all three!)

I, of course recommend to do all three!
During my last facial with them recently, I found out that they were getting so popular with their customized facials that they had to move to a larger premise so that they can accomodate more customers. I think the sheer volume of customers getting results with their troubled skin really shows off the effectiveness of Porcelain, the face spa, techniques.
I don’t do facials often enough because I’m so busy and traveling so it can be months before I see a therapist. But every time I walk out of Porcelain, the face spa, I feel that my skin breaths a sigh of relief that I’ve finally made sure my pores are clean and that my skin gets all that its been lacking. So give yourself or your love one a little treat this Valentines Day and it’s going to be worth more than flowers and chocolates when you have skin that glows healthy in every room you walk in.

Just a stone throw from where their old place was!

I got the DHC Pore Essence in my Watsons Ambassador kit previously but had way too many beauty products at that time to try so I’m only trying it now. I’ve never really used any sort of pore essence before so I really don’t know what to expect. There were quite a few raves in a couple of beauty forums about this product and its supposed to ‘close’ your pores, retain moisture and improve clarity of your skin. Sounds awesome!

I’m definitely one with large open pores, especially on my nose area. I attribute it to starting a good skin care regime too late in life. I only actively washed my face everyday with a cleanser after I turned 20! I never really had bad skin so I took skincare for granted but while I never had major breakout issues, my huge open pores are a constant reminder of how not taking care of my skin has its consequences. I don’t really expect a miracle cure to minimize my pore with this essence but it’ll be great if this product can help to make sure my large pores don’t get clogged with impurities.

After application of the product, my skin does feel tighter and I think it’ll be a great product to use for the days when my skin tend to be a little overactive and oily. It’s easily absorbed into the skin and has a pleasant scent. I’ll be starting to add this to my skin care routine so if my skin suddenly seems smoother and pores tighter, you’ll know why!

I’m not sure if you still remember blogging about N.E.mation and how I had so much fun at a stop-motion workshop. Well, that was just the basics of stop motion. Using the same principles, there are so many creative ways of creating stop motion videos and I was at the back stage scene of the 10 finalist teams of the N.E.mation! 6 competition.

It was a total eye-opener. The area were divided into tents and each tent had a team working really hard to bring their ideas to life. The students were remarkably hard working, coming in very early in the morning to start work and staying till the wee hours. They were doing what professionals out there are doing except with a lot more passion and at a much younger age. It was a very motivational experience for me to see how hard they strive to win.

Harnessing their different talents, the used different mediums for their stop motion productions. Clay, water color, paper cut outs, drawing with gyroscopes and more! Every single movement has to be absolutely detailed! It’s honestly enough to drive some people insane!

But these students did what most adults have never been able to do in their lifetime and they did it with so much commitment and professionalism; it was simply impressive. I just walked through tent after tent with my eyes wide with wonder and my jaw dropping to the ground.

And finally I’m glad to announce that their work is complete! You can visit http://nemation.sg to view their full videos and participating in choosing the top 3 videos. It’s gonna be a tough choice to make cause I think they are all really good!

I think that their home grown talent should be appreciated and commended and I would vote even if there were no incentives. But N.E.mation! is really kind to reward voters with the chance of winning a prize as well. So here are the prizes that you might win should you vote for your top 3 videos.

Prizes to be Won

1iPad 2 with Wi-Fi + 3G worth $848

1Xbox 360 Slim Console Black 4GB with Kinect worth $469

On a completely unrelated note, here’s what I wore the day I headed down to the back scenes of the stop motion process to cheer the teams on. It’s was straight after work so I was a little washed out.

Look at the photos and it’s obvious that the dress is very aptly named. The Nicole Embroidery Swing dress is one of the newest dresses sent to me from Faire Belle. It’s just been launched on their website today so if you are interested in this and more, do visit www.fairebelle.com! I love vibrant colors and online shopping is a great way to get last minute Chinese New Year clothes if you are too lazy to head down to town and jostle with the crowd after work.

I was about to meet a girl friend for dinner and I love how simple and easy this dress is. I just threw it on and tied a pony tail. The belt comes with the dress but you can always change it for your own belt as well.

If you want a more sophisticated dress for  your Chinese New Year, check out Faire Belle‘s Monique Dress. Another classic cut that has a oomph factor.

And for fans of the convertible dress, Faire Belle also has their version of the dress.

I believe that it’s quite popular as a bride’s maid dress.
