I recently learnt more about IPL for the skin and I’m really amazed at the effectiveness and would like to share that with you in this post. I’m not talking about the IPL for hair removal but the IPL used for skin rejuvenation.

Most people would have heard of microdermabrasion treatments such as Diamond Peel and Crystal peel where they re-surface the outer layer of your skin to give you a smoother feel. While IPL is even better! IPL uses a sophisticate technology (Xenon flash lamp and optical prisms or filters) to instantly vaporize damaged cells placed deeper in the skin harming neither the surrounding tissue nor the top skin layer. The main difference between the two is the depth of the resurfacing. Intense Pulse Light can penetrate the skin at various depths while microderm can only work on its surface. It’s fast and there is no pain at all! Just look at the photos to see the sort of effects you can expect!

Amazed yet? Well, Porcelain The Face Spa uses Black Magic gel ( The Photo Reborn Gel / Plasma Magic Gel)  instead of the usual cooling gel for IPL which enhances the IPL effectiveness. This Black Magic gel contains titanium oxide and carbon in charcoal is specially brought in from Korea which is known for their advance technology in skincare treatments.  Here are some of the additional benefits of Black Magic.

- The powder of harmless titanium oxide in gel makes plasma light irradiate

-Heat caused by continuous light catalysis and active oxygen which is effective on sterilization reduce inflammation.

-Carbon in natural charcoal and papaya extract makes effective peel possible and the skin soft and clear

-Portulaca Oleracea and  paradisi (Grapefruit) extract are good for reducing and  relievinginflammations

-Aloe barbadensis leaf extract and hyaluronic acid are effective for moisturization

-Titanium oxide does not only kill bacteria cells, but also decompose the cell itself. It has been found more effective than any other antibacterial agent

-The ability of titanium oxide to absorb UV light energy can provide significant improvement in the weatherability and durability of polymer products.

And if you are interested in this treatment, participate in Porcelain’s Black Magic Contest and you might just win yourself the grand price.

This is my last post on the Watsons tote bag and I have finalized my design! I wanted a bag that was spacious, had a classic shape and a closure so I can feel more secure when using it.

I’ve actually created many tote bag designs but eventually decided to go with a simple ballet shoe design. I feel that it represents strength from perseverance, beauty, the appreciation of the finer things in life, and it is a classic ever-lasting symbol which wouldn’t get dated.

Initially, I wanted to have the whole bag in pink but to minimize the carbon footprint of the bag, I changed it so that the color only highlights the more important graphical design of the tote. I’ve also selected a very pale pink so that less dye is needed. Of course, there’s an option of doing it in just black and white.

I hope you like my design and you can view the video below to show you my design process in a light hearted short clip.

I know my posts haven’t been as regular in the last couple of days but hopefully I can get them going again because I have so much to share with you! Last week I cleared 28 recyclable bags  (filled-till-bursting) and 2 boxes of clothings from my storage and had friends and family over the weekend to do some payment-less shopping! And as of today, I’m left with 6 bags which will be donated away. Winter-wear for the tsunami relief and casual clothes to either the Salvation Army or to another charity that may be holding a flea market to raise funds some time this month.

I have been superbly busy since I got back to Singapore about a week ago and one of my first exciting events after I touched down was to attend “Fashion At the Races” at the Singapore Turf Club!

I have never been to the Singapore Turf Club and it was pleasantly surprised at how huge and state-of-art the facilities are.  The girls and guy all came in their very best with fascinators, hats and lovely dresses. It reminded me of my days in Australia’s Melbourne Cup which captivates the entire nation and 80% of Australians would place bets for the races. One of the biggest events which rivals the race itself, is  ’Fashions On The Field’ where men and women dress up in gorgeous outfits with the most interesting head pieces as they attend the races. Many Australians in and out of Melbourne would dress up and wear head pieces to celebrate the races at their local pubs and it was such a fun event. Although Singapore hasn’t gotten all bonkers with race fashion yet, I was absolutely thrilled to be able to re-capture that feeling when I was invited to “Fashion at the Races” at the Singapore Turf Club.

I wore a black lace and nude Valentino Red dress with a soft flower ribbon belt and modified an old Forever 21 hat as my head piece for the event. I had fun catching up and learning all about racing and betting together with some old familiar faces such as Sarah and Holly.

The Hibiscus room was perfect for viewing the races in a comfortable air-conditioned environment over food and drinks. You could see the entire stretch of the race circuit and most importantly, the finishing line! I had a tour around the different facilities as well and got to go up and close to view the jockeys and their prize-winning horses which was simply stunning!

Learning to bet was another absolutely interesting experience. I had no experience in horse race betting and even after the initial explanation of the different categories and types of betting, I pretty much stuck to the basics which was betting on the winning horse or placing (the horse coming in as either 1st, 2nd or 3rd).

We were given the race guide but I didn’t know what I was supposed to look out for and what the numbers meant so Holly Jean and I ended up choosing our bets based on our favorite jockey outfits for the initial races. But with a lot of guidance from the lovely people at the Turf Club, by the end of the night, I could understand what some of those numbers meant and how to strategically bet based on the odds. But of course, with any sort of gambling, in the end it all boils down to luck!

I’m sure you are all dying to know if I made a killing that day! Well, I did win overall but it wasn’t much. I’m much too conservative when it comes to gambling to win anything substantial but the thrill was just as powerful to watch my winning horse cross that finishing line, live in front of me!

If you like what I wore that day, please do vote for me at http://voteforme.turfclub.com.sg and you might stand to win a pair of tickets to the race club to experience the same wonderful experience I had!

I’m really happy to announce that I’m Adelarose ambassador for 2011. You would see my new endorsement on my side bar. I’m really excited about this collaboration because I simply adore their clothes!

Adelarose aims to bring this season’s most coveted looks to their customers at more affordable prices and  I can personally vouch for their luxurious fabrics in the most flattering cuts! They have a wide range of designs to suit most of our needs. Be it cocktail dresses for you to shine at the next event or structured dresses for work or feminine day dresses for your next date, Adelarose has them all!

I love this beautiful black organza lace and taffeta-silk mini dress that I wore for my first family dinner in 2011. I have been away since 31st December and it was a special occasion for me to finally enjoy a lovely dinner with my parents for this first time this year.

The quirky LBD I wore that day was perfect for the occasion and even my mum who seldom take note of what I wear, commented that it was really pretty. The intricate lace details, three dainty bows lining the back and adorable puff hem skirt made this dress a standout.

Other than their gorgeous runway worthy dresses, I love Adelarose’s simple to navigate website and wide range of payment choices! Visa and MasterCard credit and debit cards via Paypal are accepted and if you are ordering from Singapore, you can transfer payment via Internet Banking or opt to pay with personal cheques!

The best part is I can shop from the comfort of my home without having to brave the maddening crowds in town. If you realized that the size doesn’t fit, they even have a returns and exchange policy so that you won’t be caught in a panic! I’ve picked up some other cocktail and work dresses from them and have had many compliments! I will be sharing my work outfit from Adelarose  in another post soon so look out for it!

And if you sign up for an account on Adelarose now, you’ll get $20 store credit immediately! It’s a fantastic time to go shop for your Chinese New Year outits!

I really like Amelia’s choices for this outfit the navy blue dress with the pretty bow is simple understated elegance. I love how she matches her champagne bag with those gorgeous champagne heels!

Alicia is absolutely vibrant and eye catching. Her outfit choice brings out the youthfulness in her personality and injects liveliness in all the right ways. She carries off both the dress and the bun wig really well.

Last but not least, Sabrina is simple girl next door chic. I think the newsboy cap was a great complementary accessory to pick with this top. I also love her choice of lipstick color and silver shimmer.
