Similar to sample package subscriptions like Vanity Trove, Greedy Chimp is the newest player in town that also delivers a surprise bag of goodies to your doorstep every month. But instead of beauty products, they source and bring you surprise snacks for less than $15 a month!

Remember how I mentioned not to long ago in my Bali adventure cycling post that I wanted to buy a bicycle? Well I did!

I love snacking and this new surprise Greedy Chimp loot bag came just in time for to take my bicycle and dog out for a day in a park.

So what did I find in my loot bag and on my picnic mat that day?

Ta dah! The first thing I spotted was the Mamee Rice Sticks because the Mamee’s blue monster brings back fond memories of the snacks I had in my childhood.

There were the new Cadbury Marvellous Creations too! Very popular and definitely very trendy you can read more about these chocolates in my previous post about Cadbury.

This was the first time I’ve seen of KIWA Plantain Chips. This one lets you snack healthy! It’s a brownish chip with a sweet flavor that is produced after the green banana becomes ripe. Hence, it is also high in potassium and vitamins. This chip has no artificial sweetener.

The American corn snack looks like it was picked out of a Thailand supermarket. But when you have corn chips and cheese flavoring, that’s an international taste that hardly goes wrong.

For popcorn lover or indoor movie nights, try Planet popcorn. It comes in so many different flavors such  as caramel, cheese, seaweed, wasabi or Kimchi. Even the orignal on I had is already pretty good and crunchy. Interestingly, these are hand made and not machine made!

Lastly was a fun set of Impact mints. I threw the various mints in different hand bags and in my car so I can grab a mint whenever I need a fresh taste.

This is the first loot bag that Greedy Chimp had come up with and I’m looking forward to what other surprises they have in store!

I was excited to get my May’s Vanity Trove delivered to my door step once again. Just in case you missed out on my Vanity Trove post in April and have no idea what this little surprise is all about, Vanity Trove is a surprise box of beauty delivered right to your door step each month which you can get for a simple subscription fee of SGD25 a month.

It’s packed with goodies worth more than the subscription amount so what’s in store for me in the month of May?

A whole lot of unbelievable goodies it seems!

The first things that caught my eyes were the Aqua Rine Japanese Aroma Bath Sea Salt in Peach and Rose . It has exfoliating and anti-aging properties and I’m excited to try this out soon because they smell so good ( Yes, you can smell it even before you open the pack)! Most importantly, it is in favor of eliminating tiny inflammation of  skin, stop itchiness and minimizes big pores. I’m intending to use these after my swimming sessions so that I can keep my skin smooth, radiant and younger looking after swimming in all that chlorine.

Next item that caught my attention was the GO60 mask with the cute blue ribbon on the packaging. G60 is from Mary Chia and offers quality treatment and affordable prices. The Go Hydrate! Treatment Masque is perfect for me as it will quench my skin’s thirst with their lock-in hydration formula. Since it’s an overnight mask, I’ll wear it on board long flights so I don’t have to worry about removing the mask after 15 or 20 mins. I can leave it on while I sleep away and wake up to supple hydrated skin when I wake up at my destination.

Also included in May’s Vanity Trove is Kose Infinity Deep Protection UV. I’m a huge Kose fan and their sunscreens are always light and not greasy. I love the sample size because it’ll fit right into my cosmetic pouch, making it handy for reapplication throughout the day.

Lunamer Brightener is Lunamer’s star product and I didn’t get a chance to try it out until now. It is an energizing essence that recharges the skin by removing dullness-causing keratin.

Another handy travel size sample is the Nuxe Gel Demaquillant Fondant. This is a cleansing gel with rose petals that is suitable for both face and eyes. I’m not sure if I was just lucky  or if Vanity Trove took note of my skin type because because the one I received is perfect for my sensitive skin.

An unexpected product is Sebamed Feminine Intimate Wash. I’ve tried Sebamed products before and I always love their cleansing shower oil for dry climates as well as their natural deodorants. What I didn’t know was that they also carried feminine wash. Their wash is specially formulated to the pH value of 3.8 of the genital acid mantle with skin-related lactic acid. The acidic balance of the pH value in our sensitive area is essential prophylactic protection against bacterial and fungal infection.

Last but not least is Bach Rescue Pastilles. They are made from natural remedies of flower essences and can help restore inner calm, control and focus. These addictive blackcurrant chewy lozenges came in super handy when I was recovering from my recent cough.

I first tried Mookata or what I’ve come to call it, Thai UFO steamboat in 2011 when my girlfriend arranged dinner at Golden Mile Complex. While I loved the concept, I didn’t like the rowdy atmosphere at Golden Mile and haven’t gone back since. Thus, it was with much excitement that I was able to try mookata in a much better ambience at MooJaa.

Recently, in the last 2 years, Mookata has been gaining popularity and one of the places friends kept telling me to try was MooJaa at Keong Saik Road. I invited some girls along with me for the food tasting as I believe anything BBQ or steamboat needs a crowd for it to taste even better.

We started of with some drinks and I tried both the ice lemongrass tea as well as the Thai ice tea. Both were good but I’ll recommend the Thai ice tea because of its authentic rich flavor.

For a mookata to be good, it must be cooked with charcoal!

Throngs of food selection can be found at MooJaa and other than just mookata, they also serve individual Thai dishes so there are lots of choices for everyone.

Here’s our mookata. The dome part of the UFO is where you are able to grill your meats. Pork lard is used to grease the area and that helps to make the grilled meats even tastier than usual. The indent around the bottom of the dome is where you cook your steamboat and there is kettle for you to add stock anytime you feel that the soup is running low. I think it’s brillant how the thai managed to think of this design that could give you the best of both grilled and soup dishes.

The food is slowly cooked over the charcoal and everyone had fun trying their hand to grill the perfect meat even though the waitress offered to help us. I love the pork belly slices best!

Other than the mokata, we also ordered their Thai fried omelete and basil minced chicken. Both dishes were pretty delicious and we would have loved to try their green curry chicken as well if we only had extra spaces in our stomach. We had so much fun eating and cooking. Mookata at MooJaa is a great venue for socializing and nothing brings people together like good food and drinks.

After running around doing errands for a whole day, I figured the weather was just too hot for my original outfit so I did some modifications.

I tied my hair up into a bun, removed my cardi and changed my bag.

This year, ciNE65 – A Short Film Competition has returned and as part of their program, they organized a little trip to Infinite Studios. I was excited to satisfy my curiosity about what goes on behind the scenes of filmmaking and have a glimpse of some movie magic!

Mr Freddy Yeo, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Infinite Studio gladly shared his experiences and stories of working in the film industry. He shares insights on  the post-Production services for TV Commercials, Feature Films /Short Films, Broadcast Design and Branding, Animation, Intellectual Property Acquisition and Content Development for the local and regional markets. Infinite Studios has been recognized for its craft at Clios, Cannes, Promax & BDA, New York Festivals and Creative Circle Awards which is amazing seeing that it hails from our tiny island.

 We visited the 2 soundstages 18,000 sq ft and 10,000 sq ft with 15,000 sq ft of supporting production office, dressing rooms, equipment room that will play home to international projects anchoring their production work in Singapore. It was impressive and reminded me greatly of the sound stages I visited in California when I went on the Universal VIP backlot tour.

After the sound stage tour and a little insight on how they shot the new HBO series “Serangoon Road” in their backlots located at Batam, we got a sneak peak at how they work on reality programs.

We visited their editing suites where their editors were working painstakingly on several reality series projects. There is a lot of footage involved for reality series and it all boils down to organisation and structure to get them edited and delivered on time.

It was just amazing to see how everything was handled and get the movie magic process broken down to pieces for me. I had a good insight to the industry and I’m so proud that Singapore has such tremendous potential for those interested in going into film making.

Sushi threw a cool vegetarian tea party so we could meet up with Vernice and her little baby girl. It’s been awhile since I saw Vernice.

I attended The LINE official launch party and it was awesome! Their original characters are so cute and I love the app.

Was obsessed over Tokyo Bananas for awhile. I think the pink one is cute but I actually much prefer the taste of the original one.
